EIGER
Eiger is a complex system which covers all possible tasks of card processing centres. It enables banks to im plement a complete back-office of card business and a core of authorisation centre. The Eiger system can run on Apple´s WebObjects application servers deployed on multiple hardware platforms, operating sys tems and databases and gives full freedom to mix and match these platforms to best fit the application environment.

Eiger is in compliance with Java 2, JDK 1.3, HTML, XML, SOAP, SSL, HTTPS, TCP/IP interoperability, and CORBA standards.
Flexible Object-Oriented Architecture
All Eiger modules are totally object oriented. Even the core of the system uses all of the benefits of objects. The use of Apple’s unique WebObjects application server, a world-leader of the im ple men tation of multi-tier object phi loso phy, gives Eiger unbeatable modularity and flexibility in the im ple men tation phase for each customer.
The use of Enterprise Objects gives Eiger independence on SQL Databases. We are able to use all of the leading SQL Databases (Oracle, Sybase, Informix).
WebObjects architecture also gives us hardware independence. WebObjects´ runtime is written entirely in Java, allowing Eiger to run on virtually any Java 2 platform. Some objects can run on different servers and increase the power of application or can share some unique hardware (i.e. the VISA Hardware Security Mod ule). Objects can even work together across hardware platforms and under different op er ating systems.
User interface is accessible by standard browsers (MS IE, Netscape). In LAN environment, the JavaClient-Desktop application can be used.

Eiger Core Components
Eiger Core provides common services for all modules of the Eiger system. The Core also includes some modules which are mandatory for the system and are always delivered:
User Management
This module provides defined privi leged users with the possi bility to manage all of the rights in different modules for individual users.
File Management
This module makes it possible to manage all files in the Eiger system in a unique and simply way. It offers support for data archiving and flexible han dling of all inputs and outputs in a safe manner.
Bank and Currencies Management
This important mod ule controls a list of banks and currencies and other im por tant lists (i.e. country codes, etc.).
Application Monitor
This is a superior tool for moni toring a running application throughout the entire net work. It provides the privi leged operator with the possibility to con trol the running modules of the Eiger Sys tem. The user can see, sus pend, con tinue or stop all active tasks on all different plat forms. The Eiger system is build as a distributed application. It uses some specialized servers, which can fulfil the requirements of other parts of the system (i.e. HSM server).

Performance
Eiger is a distributed system which can use features of distributed objects. WebObjects can be deployed on multiple servers and used multi-threading features. The performance of this distributed so lution is extremely high. System can use the right sizing philosophy in ithe mplementation phase and can be ex tended in the normal pro duction phase.
Security
The Eiger system uses three security levels. Base security is provided by the operating system (UNIX, MacOS X and Windows NT/2000). The next level is Oracle or other database security. The final level is provided inside Eiger. Each user has defined access rights to all different modules of Eiger. Security can be managed and tuned at many steps at all three levels.
Internationalisation
GORDIC® is able to use local character sets for other countries as well as local languages.
Accessibility
Eiger is built as a multi-layer system and its functionality can be distributed to many servers. Its GUI can be used in multiple environments (LAN, intranet, extranet, internet). Some inputs and out puts can be processed by e-mail, WAP, etc.
Support and Training
Training can be provided on customer site. Support is organized through hot-line, dial-up connection or, in serious cases, by service personnel on customer site.
